本書是“中藥現(xiàn)代化研究系列”之一，是中山大學蘇薇薇教授團隊的原創(chuàng)性研究成果。中山大學蘇薇薇教授團隊提交的化橘紅標準草案，經(jīng)過6年的研討、修改和審評，已于2020年12月1日正式進入美國藥典USP-NF。本書的內容，是蘇薇薇團隊化橘紅美國藥典標準的起草全文。全書分為二部分：部分，化橘紅藥材質量標準草案及起草說明；第二部分，化橘紅提取物質量標準草案及起草說明。本書對中藥靠前化具有積極意義。
