埃塞俄比亞是“一帶一路”在非洲大陸的重要節點國家，也是非洲第二人口大國和經濟增長*快的國家之一，同時還是非洲聯盟、聯合國非洲經濟委員會等重要國際組織的總部所在國，在非洲區域政治經濟格局以及中非關系大局中都有著特殊的地位。近年來，因國內經濟發展失衡、政治和經濟體制改革滯后等問題，埃塞民族和社會矛盾空前激化，多種社會思潮相互激蕩，對該國的政治、經濟和安全形勢產生了深刻的影響，對于我國在埃塞俄比亞的投資和人員安全也帶來了一定得影響。為深入了解埃塞俄比亞當前政治、經濟和社會發展現狀和問題的思想根源，作者聯合亞的斯亞貝巴大學埃塞俄比亞研究所就埃塞當前的主要社會思潮的歷史演進、現狀和影響等主題在國內和埃塞餓比亞開展了一次學術征文活動。本書針對這次活動的征文共收集學術論文20篇，主要涉及埃塞俄比亞的自由主義思潮、“民主發展型國家”理念、“麥得莫爾理念”（Medemer）理念、女性主義思潮、民族主義思潮、分離主義思潮、分離主義思潮、埃塞的語言政策與國家認同、政治與經濟改革、埃塞對外關系等主題。
